Culmination of Flores de Mayo and Santacruzan 2026

SEBASTE, ANTIQUE — May 31, 2026 With hearts filled with gratitude and devotion, the faithful of St. Blaise Parish joyfully celebrated the culmination of Flores de Mayo and Santacruzan 2026, bringing to a close a month-long observance dedicated to honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The celebration gathered parishioners from different sectors of the community, including children, youth, parents, church organizations, ministry members, and Marian devotees. The event served not only as the conclusion of a cherished Catholic tradition but also as a manifestation of the parish's vibrant faith and deep devotion to the Mother of God.

The culmination began with a solemn Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Joseph E. Baña. During his homily, Fr. Baña encouraged the faithful to reflect on the virtues of the Blessed Virgin Mary, particularly her humility, obedience, faithfulness, and unwavering trust in God's plan. He reminded everyone that Marian devotion is not merely expressed through traditions and celebrations but through living a life centered on Christ and guided by Mary's example.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, a solemn procession took place around the parish community. Parishioners walked together in prayer while carrying religious images and symbols of faith. The procession was accompanied by Marian hymns and prayers, creating an atmosphere of reverence and spiritual reflection. For many participants, the procession was a powerful expression of unity, demonstrating the strength of faith that continues to bind the community together.

One of the most anticipated highlights of the celebration was the traditional Santacruzan a religious and cultural procession that commemorates the finding of the Holy Cross by Saint Helena. Participants gracefully portrayed various biblical and historical figures associated with the Christian faith, adding color and meaning to the event while preserving a tradition that has been passed down through generations.

The offering of flowers to the Blessed Virgin Mary also remained a central part of the celebration. Children and young people approached the Marian altar with flowers in hand, symbolizing their love, gratitude, and devotion. Accompanied by heartfelt Marian songs, the floral offerings transformed the church into a beautiful expression of faith and reverence. The simple act of offering flowers reminded the faithful that every prayer, sacrifice, and act of love can be presented to God through the intercession of the Blessed Mother.

Throughout the month of May, St. Blaise Parish conducted various Marian activities that encouraged active participation among parishioners. Daily prayers, devotional gatherings, and community-based activities strengthened the spiritual life of the faithful and fostered a deeper appreciation of Mary's role in salvation history. These activities also provided opportunities for families to pray together and for young people to become more involved in the life and mission of the Church.

The success of Flores de Mayo and Santacruzan 2026 was made possible through the dedication and cooperation of numerous individuals and groups. The parish extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Parish Pastoral Council, Basic Ecclesial Communities, parish ministries, sponsors, volunteers, parents, benefactors, and all participants who generously shared their time, talents, and resources. Their collective efforts transformed the celebration into a meaningful and memorable experience for the entire parish community.

More than a cultural tradition, Flores de Mayo and Santacruzan continue to serve as a living testimony of faith, reminding Catholics of the importance of prayer, service, humility, and devotion. Through these celebrations, the faithful are inspired to deepen their relationship with Christ by following the example of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

As the month of May concluded, parishioners left the celebration with renewed spiritual strength and a deeper commitment to Christian discipleship. The lessons learned, prayers offered, and memories shared throughout the month will continue to inspire the community as they journey together in faith.

The culmination of Flores de Mayo and Santacruzan 2026 stands as a testament to the enduring Marian devotion of the people of Sebaste and their unwavering commitment to preserving the rich traditions of the Catholic faith. Through the maternal guidance of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the faithful remain united in hope, strengthened in faith, and inspired to serve God and neighbor with love and dedication.
